Gabe Wootton is a Texas singer-songwriter whose music draws on Americana, folk, and country traditions. Originally from Ponta, Texas, Gabe has been performing for more than two decades, developing a distinctive style influenced by artists such as Townes Van Zandt, Guy Clark, John Prine, and Tom Waits and centered on authentic storytelling. His performances weave songs together with stories, told with wry, playful wit, creating a show where the moments between songs are as much a part of the experience as the music itself.

Today, Gabe is based in Galveston, Texas and performs at venues throughout Texas and beyond, including Houston’s Anderson Fair, McGonigel’s Mucky Duck, and Continental Club; Austin’s Sagebrush, White Horse, Hole in the Wall, and Sam’s Town Point; Gruene Hall in New Braunfels; Poor David’s Pub in Dallas; Dan’s Silverleaf in Denton; and the Mercury Lounge in Tulsa, Oklahoma. He has also played at the Hotel Turkey Songwriter Festival, WesFest in Austin, and Cow Island Live in Abbeville, Louisiana.

Gabe has a longstanding relationship with Galveston’s Old Quarter Acoustic Cafe, where he is a regular performer and contributor to its songwriter community. His album Old Quarter Live Sessions, Vol. 1 was the first release on Old Quarter Records, capturing his music in the listening-room environment that has become an important part of his artistic home. He also curates and hosts Last Wednesday, a songwriter series at the Old Quarter that brings visiting songwriters together with local audiences and musicians.
